Knitting for Olive - Heavy Merino

Our Heavy Merino is made from 100% traceable, mulesing-free merino wool. Merino wool is one of the softest types of wool available. There are different types of merino sheep, and the softness of the wool varies both from sheep to sheep, but also depending on where on the sheep the wool comes from. The finest and softest wool lies very close to the body, and this wool is used in our thin merino. Heavy Merino, on the other hand, is made from the wool that sits more on the outside of the sheep. This means that the yarn is more rustic and a little less soft than our thin merino. Heavy Merino is very durable and holds up well in use. It is an obvious yarn for sweaters, possibly combined with our Soft Silk Mohair, if you want a softer and more furry result.
